Mobile apps

Mobile app development for iOS and Android with React Native

React Native lets one codebase power both iOS and Android apps, which usually means faster delivery and simpler maintenance than two separate native apps. I build mobile apps with React Native and Node.js backends, and progressive web apps where installing from an app store is not necessary, covering authentication, notifications, device features and app store preparation.

When a mobile app is the right choice

  • Customers use your service frequently and benefit from a home-screen app and notifications
  • The app needs device features such as camera, location, biometrics or offline access
  • Field staff, drivers or technicians need a tool that works on the move
  • You already have a web application and want a mobile companion using the same API
  • A progressive web app could deliver the core experience without app store approval

What's included

React Native app

Screens, navigation and state management shared across iOS and Android, with platform-specific details where they matter.

Backend and API

Node.js APIs, databases and admin tools that serve the app, or integration with your existing backend.

Authentication

Email, phone or social sign-in, secure token storage and optional biometric unlock.

Push notifications

Transactional and reminder notifications with user preferences.

Device features

Camera, location, maps, file uploads and offline storage, depending on what the app needs.

App store preparation

Builds, icons, screenshots, privacy details and submission support for the App Store and Google Play.

Native where it counts, shared everywhere else

Most of an app's screens and logic can be shared between iOS and Android. Some features, such as certain hardware integrations or background tasks, need platform-specific work. I identify those early so the estimate reflects them, and test on real iOS and Android devices throughout development.

Not every product needs an app store app. If users visit occasionally or the main goal is reach, a progressive web app can be installed from the browser, works offline and costs less to maintain. I will recommend the option that fits how people will actually use the product.

How the project runs

  1. Product scopeUsers, core journeys, devices to support and the features that need native capabilities.
  2. DesignMobile-first flows and screens following iOS and Android conventions.
  3. BuildApp and backend developed together, with test builds shared on your devices.
  4. TestingReal-device testing across screen sizes, network conditions and both platforms.
  5. ReleaseStore listings, submission and updates after launch based on feedback and crash reports.

Technology choices

  • React NativeOne codebase for iOS and Android with access to native device features.
  • TypeScriptSafer code shared between the app and its backend.
  • Node.js, Firebase or PostgreSQLBackends chosen for real-time needs, data structure and scale.
  • Progressive web appsInstallable, offline-capable web apps when an app store release is not needed.

What affects cost and timeline

  • Number of screens and user roles
  • Device features, offline support and real-time functionality
  • Whether a backend exists or needs to be built
  • Design readiness and platform-specific requirements
  • Testing scope and app store submission needs

Every estimate starts from your requirements. Request a quote with your users, must-have features, timeline and budget range, and I will reply with questions and a suggested first phase.

Frequently asked questions

React Native or native Swift and Kotlin?

React Native suits most business and consumer apps and lets one team deliver both platforms. Fully native development can make sense for apps built around intensive graphics, complex background processing or very new platform features.

Will one codebase cover every feature on both platforms?

Many features can be shared, but some device integrations need platform-specific code. We confirm the required features early and test on both platforms.

Can you guarantee App Store approval?

No developer can; Apple and Google control approval. Following their guidelines from the design stage and preparing accurate privacy information reduces the risk of rejection.

Can the app share a backend with our website?

Yes. A shared API lets the website and app use the same data, accounts and business rules.

Do you maintain apps after launch?

Yes. Apps need updates for new operating system versions, store policy changes and user feedback, and I can provide that ongoing support.
