UI/UX design

UI/UX design for web applications and websites

UI/UX design shapes how a product works and feels before it is built: the user flows, the layout of each screen and the visual system that keeps everything consistent. As a developer who also designs in Figma, I create designs for web applications, dashboards and websites that are practical to build, accessible and focused on what users need to get done.

When design work helps

  • You have a product idea but no screens yet, and want to test the flow before development
  • Users find an existing application confusing, slow to use or inconsistent
  • A dashboard or admin panel has grown feature by feature and needs restructuring
  • Your developers need a component library and design system to build consistently
  • A website needs a clearer structure that leads visitors to contact you

What's included

User flows

The steps users take to complete key tasks, including errors and edge cases, mapped before any visual design.

Wireframes

Low-fidelity layouts to agree on structure and content quickly and cheaply.

Figma prototypes

Clickable, high-fidelity designs to review with stakeholders and test with real users.

Design system

Colours, typography, spacing and reusable components documented for consistent development.

Accessibility

Contrast, focus states, readable type and keyboard-friendly interactions planned from the start.

Developer handover

Specifications, assets and responsive behaviour defined, or implementation by me directly.

Designs that are built as designed

A common problem is a design that looks great in Figma but is slow or expensive to build, or quietly changes during development. Because I build the products I design, decisions consider real data, loading and error states, responsive layouts and component reuse from the beginning.

Good interfaces are measured by whether people can complete their tasks. I focus on clear hierarchy, fewer steps and familiar patterns, and keep visual style in service of the brand rather than the other way round.

How the project runs

  1. ResearchUsers, their goals, current pain points and examples of products they already know.
  2. Flows and wireframesStructure and key journeys agreed in low fidelity.
  3. Visual designHigh-fidelity screens and components based on your brand.
  4. Prototype and reviewClickable prototype reviewed with stakeholders and, ideally, a few real users.
  5. Handover or buildDesign system and specifications delivered, or development started directly.

Technology choices

  • FigmaWireframes, high-fidelity designs, prototypes and shared component libraries.
  • Adobe XD and IllustratorLegacy design files, illustrations and brand assets where needed.
  • Tailwind CSS and React componentsDesign systems translated directly into reusable code.
  • Framer MotionInterface animation prototyped and implemented with purpose.

What affects cost and timeline

  • Number of screens, user roles and states to design
  • Whether a brand identity and design system already exist
  • Depth of research and user testing
  • Prototype fidelity and animation
  • Whether development follows with the same person or another team

Every estimate starts from your requirements. Request a quote with your users, must-have features, timeline and budget range, and I will reply with questions and a suggested first phase.

Frequently asked questions

Do you only design, or also build?

Both. Design can be delivered as Figma files and a design system for your team, or followed directly by development, which avoids handover gaps.

Can you redesign an existing product without starting over?

Yes. A redesign often starts with the highest-friction flows and introduces a design system gradually, so improvements ship without a full rebuild.

Will the design work on mobile?

Yes. Layouts are designed responsively, with mobile considered from the start rather than adapted at the end.

Do you follow accessibility guidelines?

Designs aim to meet WCAG AA expectations for contrast, text size, focus states and keyboard use, and any brand constraints that affect this are flagged early.

What do you need to start?

Your goals, target users, any existing brand assets or product, examples you like and the main tasks users must complete.
