Technical SEO

Technical SEO for websites and web applications

Technical SEO is making sure search engines can find, crawl, render and understand every page you want visitors to discover. I work on the code side: page speed and Core Web Vitals, server rendering for JavaScript sites, structured data, sitemaps, redirects, multilingual setup and site migrations. It is developer-led work, not link buying or ad management.

When technical SEO work helps

  • Your site is built with React or another JavaScript framework and important pages are missing from search results
  • Pages load slowly on mobile and Search Console reports poor Core Web Vitals
  • You are redesigning, changing platform or moving domain and do not want to lose existing traffic
  • Search Console shows crawl errors, duplicate pages, redirect chains or pages excluded from the index
  • You serve several countries or languages and the wrong version appears in search results

What's included

Technical audit

A prioritised list of issues found in crawl data, Search Console and the code itself, explained in plain language with the fix for each.

Core Web Vitals and speed

Fixes for slow loading, layout shift and sluggish interaction: image and font optimisation, script reduction, caching and rendering changes.

Rendering and crawlability

Server rendering or static generation for pages that need to rank, clean internal links, correct canonical tags and robots rules.

Structured data

Schema.org markup for organisations, services, products, articles, FAQs and breadcrumbs, validated against search engine guidelines.

Sitemaps and metadata

Generated XML sitemaps, unique titles and descriptions, Open Graph tags and heading structure across templates.

Migrations and international setup

URL mapping and redirects for redesigns or platform changes, and hreflang, language and country structure for multilingual sites.

Fix the foundations, then let content do its job

Search visibility depends on content, reputation and technical health. I handle the technical part, which is often the easiest to fix and the most damaging when broken: a page that search engines cannot render, a redesign that drops hundreds of URLs without redirects or a template that gives every page the same title. Fixes are made in the code and templates, so they apply to every page and stay in place as the site grows.

Because I build Next.js and React sites, I can change rendering strategy, routing and components directly rather than writing a report for someone else to interpret. Every recommendation is tied to evidence from Search Console, crawl data or speed measurements, and progress is checked against the same data after release.

How the project runs

  1. Collect dataSearch Console access, analytics, a full crawl of the site and speed measurements on real templates.
  2. Audit and prioritiseList issues by impact and effort, separating quick template fixes from larger changes such as rendering or URL structure.
  3. ImplementCode changes on staging, checked with crawl tools, structured data validators and speed tests before release.
  4. Release and verifyDeploy, submit updated sitemaps, and watch indexing, errors and Core Web Vitals in Search Console.
  5. ProtectAdd checks for metadata, redirects and performance so new pages and future releases do not undo the work.

Technology choices

  • Next.jsServer rendering, static generation, metadata and sitemap generation built into the framework.
  • Google Search ConsoleIndexing status, crawl errors, Core Web Vitals field data and search performance.
  • Lighthouse and PageSpeed InsightsLab measurements to find and confirm performance fixes.
  • Schema.org structured dataJSON-LD markup that helps search engines understand your organisation and pages.

What affects cost and timeline

  • Size of the site and number of distinct page templates
  • The framework and how much rendering needs to change
  • Whether a migration, redesign or domain change is involved
  • Number of languages or countries served
  • Whether I implement the fixes or your team does from the audit

Every estimate starts from your requirements. Request a quote with your users, must-have features, timeline and budget range, and I will reply with questions and a suggested first phase.

Frequently asked questions

Can you guarantee first-page rankings?

No. Nobody can honestly guarantee rankings, because they depend on search engines, competitors, content quality and reputation. What I can do is remove the technical problems that hold a site back and make sure every important page can be crawled, rendered and understood.

Do you do link building or run Google Ads?

No. I do not buy links or manage ad campaigns. My work is technical: speed, rendering, structure, structured data and migrations. It pairs well with a content or marketing team that handles the rest.

Is a React site bad for SEO?

Not necessarily. Problems appear when important content only exists after JavaScript runs in the browser. Server rendering or static generation, which Next.js provides, solves that for the pages that need to rank.

How do we redesign without losing traffic?

By mapping every old URL that has traffic or links to its new equivalent, setting up permanent redirects, keeping important content and metadata, and monitoring Search Console closely after launch.

How soon will we see results?

Technical fixes take effect as search engines recrawl the site, which can take from days to several weeks depending on its size and how often it is crawled. Search Console shows when changes have been picked up.
